When I was 20 I fell off a roof and literally broke my spine. It was a hairline fracture, meaning the bone broke but did not split, which is why I can still walk. I still remember the fall itself as being this moment of impending doom, where I knew I was going to get hurt but didn’t know how badly.
That isn’t me in the animation but I feel sorry for this guy. I wonder what he’s thinking about - after a few minutes of falling you probably stop worrying about the impact so much, right?

It’s a fair amount of photoshop magic: layer effects (color overlay) and layer masks, bitmaps, etc, combined with ink washes and a lot of tweaking.
